• Description:
• The olive tree is a historical and cultural symbol for Tunisia, guaranteeing economic wealth and a precious source of employment in rural areas. Oléic farming occupies, today, more than 30% of the country's cultivable land. It employs 60% of the agricultural workforce and represents 45% of agricultural exports. The Industry of the oil represents for the Tunisian, in certain regions, an almost exclusive economic activity. The different phases of the oléicole industry, olive growing, olive, commerce, mobilize thousands of 'workers: laborers, pickers, oil mill workers, drivers, traders, etc. More than 500,000 Tunisians live from olive growing. The Olivier is often the only income and always the main resource of thousands of small farmers and an even larger number of agricultural workers. For a few years, this sector faces some challenges, including the ' Impact of climate change, the abandonment of agricultural activity by young people, but also bad agricultural practices due to an abandonment of ancestral traditions and the migration of culture towards new fertile territories ...
